Welcome To Book Bound Club!
I am Ande!
A twenty-something book lover on the hunt for the next great read.
But let’s back it up a bit … born and partially raised in Des Moines, Iowa, I grew to love and appreciate a good story. I learned to read (or to memorize rather) at the age of 4, and am hooked. A dabbler – meaning, I don’t, can’t and won’t read just one genre. I love them all!
Reading became even more prominent in my life when we moved here to North Carolina. My first full summer in NC, I was leaving middle school and anticipating the jump into the unknown territory of freshmen year. Moving to a neighborhood that was only a block from the town’s library was pure luck; especially since I hadn’t made any friends just yet.
So what’s a kid to do all day in the summer? Read of course!
I would walk to the library, and peruse the shelves for hours. I would check-out 4 or 5 books at a time and returned two weeks later to conduct the same ritual. Jane Green, Janet Evanovich, Dean Koontz, and many more, entertained all hours of my free time.
Fast forward four years later…
I moved to Wilmington, NC to attend school and live near the beach. I worked as a cashier at Life is Good where I was fortunate enough to become friends with my manager, Jess. She too is an avid reader, the first I had met, and lent me books that she had read and loved. Jess and I read the Twilight series together and bonded over the various twists and conflicts within the plot. I was so “in love” with Twilight that I lent it out to my mom, who lent it to my aunt, who gave it to my Nana, etc.
The same scenario happened amongst my friends. With Monica and Marissa, it was the Kite Runner, and with Stacy … I’m not sure which book began our swap but am confident it was probably something by Nicholas Sparks. Dianne, my boyfriend’s mom, whose personal library far exceeds mine, owns every fantasy book known to man. (Score. Swoon. Drool.) Dianne is always willing to recommend and lend when a reading slump occurs.
I had no idea I would get the opportunity to meet (and become friends with) fellow book lovers! It is indeed a magical moment when you can discuss a book, or series, that you love with others who have read and loved it too.
So … Book Bound Club is born!
I hope to create an area (in this small space of the internet) where we can come together to revel and discuss the books we love. On this blog, I plan to introduce, review and discuss the stories I’ve read. With joining the book club, I encourage you to recommend the stories you’ve grown to love or wish to read. I also ask that you participate as we discuss various books from different genres.
Ask a question, make a statement – Book Bound is for you and me.
So let’s begin!
